HGL Designs, Manufactures and Supports Sensor to ReportMeasurement Systems
primarily for Rotating Machinery applications across the Globe.

We provide customers with the capability to Acquire, Monitor, Analyse and Report on almost any analogue signal from simple handheld low-channel count devices through to hundreds of diverse signals within a large development test bed.

The company focuses on rotating machinery such as Gas, Steam and Wind Turbines, Gearboxes, and Generators but we also provides systems and solutions for Rocket Engines, Oil and Gas, Railway, Playground Safety and long-term Conditioning Monitoring in many Application areas.

HGL prides itself on developing and manufacturing all of its own Hardware, Firmward and Software in-house primarily in its UK and US facilities. This brings security, continuity and deep knowledge of our solutions and their application.

HGL has a proven range of standard Hardware and Software Products, but is very open to developing customised solutions or new products with its customers and partners.

Railways & Transport

Since the company’s foundation in 2000 HGL Dynamics has trusted to develop, provide and support Measurement Systems for OEM Engine Development programs in the Civil sector (such as the Rolls-Royce Trent family, Safran CFM-56 and Leap), Defence Sector (including JSF, Eurofighter, A400M and B52) and Flight Test campaigns.

In the Industrial Sector HGL Dynamics has developed systems to streamline both Development and Production testing for companies such as Siemens Energy and has used this experience to provide Condition Monitoring solutions for long-term Engine Health both directly with the OEMs and partnering with our sector providers such Sensonics Ltd.

HGL Dynamics has also leveraged its technology to innovate into the transport sector developing rugged, portable ride monitoring systems for Railway operators, Playground Safety Measurement Systems and more recently expanding into Rocket Engine test systems.

Put simply HGL Dynamics is trusted to provide what is required, when required and to support it throughout its lifetime.

HGL Dynamics builds long-term collaborative relationships with its customers, with several including Rolls-Royce, Safran and Siemens working with us for decades.

Our Story

HGL Dynamics Limited was founded in Godalming UK in 2000 by Dr Jim Hone, Dr Andy Law and Emma Hone with the aim of developing leading edge Data Acquisition, Monitoring, Analysis and Data Management systems specifically for the Aero Gas Turbine Industry. The founders both had several years experience of providing Data Acquisition and Analysis systems within this sector and also within the defence and transport sectors prior to founding HGL Dynamics.

The company started as a software-centric organisation utilising 3rd party hardware, but quickly started developing its own PC solutions for hosting the software, and then moved into development of its own rugged and modular Data Acquisition Front Ends which have become the mainstay of the company and are sold globally to a wide range of customers in multiple industries.

The company has grown since 2000 from the original three founders to 45+ across a group of five independent companies in Europe (UK, France and Germany), The United States, and South Korea with a number of partner companies and long-term distributors across the globe.

Whilst primarily focused on Dynamic (1kHz - 100kHz bandwidth) Data Acquisition and Analysis, the company has more recently expanded into Steady State (1Hz - 1kHz) and High-Speed (100kHz - 10MHz) including Blade Tip Clearance (BTC) and Blade Tip Timing (BTT) applications.

All of our hardware solutions are supported by in-house developed Firmware and Software providing a true one-stop shop for Measurement Applications from “DC to Light".

Our original operational scope was tightly focused on the Aero Gas Turbine market with Rolls-Royce an early (and continuing) customer, and whilst this remains a substantial part of the business with Safran, ACAE, and Pratt and Whitney (amongst others), the company also diversified out to other industries including Industrial Gas Turbines, Wind Turbines, Marine, Railway and Oil & Gas markets.

In 2010 HGL Dynamics onboarded all its own hardware design & manufacture, and today our Lincoln (UK) facility operates modern, flexible PCB Surface Mount Assembly, Mechanical Machine Shops and System Build and Repair operations. Our Indianapolis (US) Facility can also design and manufacture mechanical items and supports a full Support and Service function. The company also undertakes design, manufacture and testing operations for 3rd party customers in a wide array of applications via our HGL Systems operating division.

HGL Dynamics also has a long history of providing onsite Test Support services for its customers and In 2021 this was strengthened to include Test Campaign Planning and Measurement Uncertainty services when we launched our German operation (Ertemes GmbH) in Berlin.
