HGL Dynamics has developed Data Acquisition Modules (Front-Ends) which allow capture of signals from DC into the Megahertz range. Within rotating machinery applications this broad spectrum is usually divided into three bandwidth areas of interest, namely:
Steady-State

24/32-bit Sigma Delta
Sensor Types
Thermocouple
RTD

Common Features
All HGL Dynamics Data Acquisition Front Ends are modular and can be used with any other Front End across the Sample Rate ranges.
Units are available in channel counts from 8 to 48 (see detailed product pages)
All products are designed to be environmentally robust for exposed operation in all weather conditions and temperatures for extended periods.
Most units are shock and vibration tested to DO160G standards to levels appropriate with their inteded use (up to Category R Curve W)
HGL designs and manufactures all of its products for 10+ year life, using milled anodized Aluminium for Chassis and internal construction with high quality multilayer PCBs and surface mounted components.
Every HGL Dynamics Front End can be powered by DC 9-36V (automotive standard) and AC through an mains adapter.
Additionally most units have either Power over Ethernet (PoE) or USB where applicable.
HGL standardised on Ethernet as its system ‘bus’ in 2001 and since that time every HGL Front End has featured Ethernet using TCP/IP and UDP protocols.
More recently we have added USB communication to some of our portable products.
Every HGL Front End features single ADC per channel with synchronisation to nanoseconds across small, medium and large systems regardless of module type.
Every module includes HGL’s own LVDS system with IRIG A/B, GPS and IEEE-1588 available depending on module types. (See detailed product information).
Form Factors
HGL Dynamics Front-Ends are designed and named based on a range of form factors each of which provides benefits which may be useful depending on application.
Dynamics
Ultra-portable family of 4 & 5 channel DAQ modules with Ethernet and USB communications ports, multi-unit sync via LVDS, IIRIG A/B or IEEE-1588. Full Dynamic sample rates and multiple signal conditioning options..
Dynamics
HGL’s original 8-channel DAQ modules sized at 450 x 450 x 50mm (slim) and 75mm (standard). Dragonfly features multi-unit sync via LVDS, IRIG A/B (std only), GPS (optional) and IEEE-1588 (std only). Full Dynamic sample rates and multiple signal conditioning options. V5 units also include built-in CAL system, and buffered analogue outputs.
Dynamics | High-Speed
Where channel density is the key requirement within a standard rack system, the Eagle family delivers. All DAQ units include the standard LVDS, IRIG A/b and IEEE-1588 sync with GPS being an optional upgrade. 16, 24 and 32 channel variants and multiple signal conditioning variants are available..
Steady-State | Dynamic | High-Speed
Osprey was introduced with HGL’s V5 hardware and includes models across the entire supported frequency ranges. The compact 2U chassis supports all of the synchronisation methods as standard in 16, 24, and 32 channel count variants. Osprey currently supports the widest range of conditioning options within the HGL product range.
Dynamic
The popular Hummingbird family provides 16, 24, 32, 48 and 64 channel modules in a rack mount 3U or 4U form factor. Hummingbird supports all of the Fylde and HGL signal conditioning card options and also supports LVDS, IRIG A/B, and IEEE-1588 as standard and can optionally use GPS for multi-unit synchronisation.
