HGL Dynamics is pleased to announce preliminary information for its new Dragonfly range of miniature high-performance data acquisition cards and modules.

The world of digital data acquisition has matured over the past few years, with a range of vendors (including HGL Dynamics) offering high-quality and performance data acquisition products in a variety of form factors, with one exception: miniature, vehicle-mounted, high-performance and ultra low-power modules. Dragonfly from HGL is intended to fill this area.

As pictured the Dragonfly is produced in a standard 2 card format. The vertical mezzanine card provides optional Power Over Ethernet (POE) capability for single connection operation. Alternately users can connect an external 3.3 V power supply to the unit.

The Dragonfly comes in two sizes - Dragonfly⁴ and Dragonfly⁸ providing 4 and 8 analogue input channels respectively. Initial specifications are provided below, although these are subject to change:

• 4 / 8 analogue input channels, 0 analogue output channels
• 16-bit Sigma Delta Analogue to Digital Converters (ADC)
• 5-200 kHz, simultaneous sampling across all channels
• Onboard gain and digital filtering settings (programmable)
• Maximum +/-10 V dc input range
• 47 kΩ input impedance
• SNR: > 90 dB
• 10/100 Mb Ethernet connection for data and control
• PoE (Power over Ethernet); approx 0.5 W
• multiple boards can be synchronised over Ethernet (IEEE1588, Precision Time Protocol)
• Conforms to LXI instrumentation standards
• Environmental: 0 to 40 ^oC, 90 % RH non-condensing
• Size: 4 " (W) x 3 " (D)  x 1 " (H) : 100 mm x 75 mm x 25 mm
• Optional plug-in signal-conditioning daughterboards

HGL Dynamics will be offering a range of standard signal conditioning modules for the Dragonfly and will be happy to consider custom requests from interested customers.

Standard Conditioning Modules:

• 8 channel IEPE
• 8 channel Bridge Strain (¼, ½ and full Bridge) for 350 Ω, 120 Ω and 1000 Ω completion
• 8 channel Dynamics Strain (constant current excitation)
• 8 channel Proximeter Probe
