Aerospace development and testing systems require the capture and analysis of vast amounts of data; this demands a robust, dynamic archiving system for fast and secure data storage and retrieval. To meet this demand, HGL Dynamics have designed the Hercules archiving system.
The Hercules system has been designed to be modular, network-connected and scalar, allowing use in systems ranging from a single tape drive to systems requiring multiple automated robotic storage systems with many media drives moving data at hundreds of MBytes per second.
The primary aim of the Hercules is to provide a virtually infinite storage area for any data. The Hercules uses pure COTS hardware and is based on a PC platform and uses the SCSI interface (copper- or fibre-based) to interconnect with a wide range of the standard data storage devices available today.
